Girl Around Town...Kayelin Tiggs
I am so excited to share the latest Girl Around Town...Kayelin Tiggs. Kayelin is on her way to Atlanta to continue on her journey to being the next Jovani IT Girl. I am beyond proud of her and her journey. Sit back, and learn a little more about Kayelin.
Kayelin is currently working towards a Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology. Her goal is to take her credentials and experience to develop multiple training programs surrounding the development, structure, and function of the brain to individuals in education and related fields to better understand how we learn and what impacts learning. Kayelin feels that it is important for us all to know how our brain works, and how this knowledge can be applied to the way we perceive and navigate the world.
Kayelin set out on this journey not only wanting to better herself, but to have purpose as well. After figuring out her love was neuroscience, she contacted the Human Vision and Cognition Lab at WSU to volunteer. After almost a year in the lab, her career in this field soared. Almost two weeks ago, she was hired by the Navy in conjunction with the United States Air Force to study the effects of sleep deprivation on human performance. She is in love with her current position as a Research Assistant.
Her motto is "A good name is better than riches." She accredits her “nana” for instilling this belief in her. To her it “means that no matter how much money you make or how much success you obtain, you must always remain a good person, and treat people with respect because this is ultimately what you'll be remembered for.”
So, what is next for Kayelin? She just received the runner up title of Miss Buckeye State USA at the preliminary for Miss Ohio USA and she is in the process of creating events/appearances surrounding mental health and education. She is also raising funds to compete for the title of Miss Ohio USA.
So, what does Kayelin want you to know? “On paper I come off as so serious but I laugh at my own jokes and I put my pants on backwards sometimes. I'm down for the ride and I love to experience all types of people, places and events.” Fun fact: I am terrified of fish and water animals!
